I am a Director of Research at the OFCE, Sciences Po.
My research focuses on evaluation of family, social and tax policies, and on the analysis of gender inequalities in the labour market, in the family and in higher education. I am also interested in the history of economic thought with a feminist perspective.
I am the director and the co-founder of the gender studies program of Sciences Po, PRESAGE. Since April 2023, I am the president of the High Family Council in the Haut Conseil de la famille de l’enfance et de l’âge, HCFEA. This Council aims at fostering and leading public debate on family issues and public policies in the French context.
Evolution of fertility in Europe
This chart shows the evolution, between 2009 and 2023, of fertility rates and women’s labor force participation rates in Europe. Until the mid-2010s, countries with generous family policies that facilitated the reconciliation of family and professional life were able to combine high fertility rates with high female employment rates. Today, although these policies remain necessary, they are no longer sufficient to ensure sustained fertility levels. The determinants of fertility choices appear to have become more complex, as notably illustrated by the survey conducted by the HCFEA available here in French only.
